Sunice Sets Up U.K. Subsidiary
May 17, 2010 by GNN · Leave a Comment
Sunice, owned by the Montreal-based Fletcher Leisure Group, has opened a United Kingdom office in conjunction with The Golf Business Ltd. (TGB) that will serve as the outerwear company’s business subsidiary for the U.K. and Ireland.
TGB is located just outside of London where the sales and marketing company specializes in the supply and promotion of golf products throughout the U.K. and Ireland.
“Our partnership is structured so we can be very competitive in the U.K. and Ireland by combining Sunice resources out of Montreal with The Golf Business expertise in these markets,” said Mark Fletcher, president of Sunice.
“We don’t want to just have a distribution and marketing agreement with The Golf Business, because then, we’re at arm’s length,” added Fletcher.
“Having The Golf Business as a partner allows us to be fully involved in our U.K. and Ireland market business. It also allows us to avoid undue distribution costs in the business, which makes us less competitive in the eyes of our customers and consumers,” he added.
“We are enthusiastic about creating a stable, long-term relationship with The Golf Business,” he added. “We’ll be building Sunice with brand-enhancing and brand-strengthening strategies and those, in concert with our solid team, make us very excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
“Product-wise, we are confident that we will continue to be a strong force in the market as we look to expand the Gore-Tex collections and release stretch products.”
Sunice Hooks Up With PGA Tour

Sunice has signed a new, three-year licensing agreement that will see that brand become an official outerwear licensee for the PGA Tour, Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour.
“We value our very important relationship with the PGA Tour,” said Mark Fletcher, president of Sunice.
“The PGA Tout is the largest and most important golf tour in the world and this new three-year licensing agreement gives us numerous opportunities to associate our company with an organization that represents the cream of the crop in golf,” added Fletcher.
Maureen Murrah, vice president of apparel licensing with IMG Sports Licensing, the PGA Tour’s domestic licensing representative, said the deal offers great potential. “Sunice is an Outerwear brand that represents quality of the highest standard,” said Murrah.
Sunice’s 2010 men’s outerwear products are highlighted by its Hurricane Collection and Gore-Tex fabric.
“Our entire 2010 Sunice Outerwear Collection features the most technological advancements of any product line in our company’s history,” said Howie Ellis, executive vice president of Sunice.
“The Hurricane Collection heads up this impressive product lineup, which is enhanced by the usage of Gore-Tex. Thanks to our partnership with the PGA Tour, our golf outerwear product will get more exposure than ever before.”
Sunice Offers Multiple Options

Sunice has introduced three technical collections for 2010-2011.
The Hurricane Collection sets the bar for Sunice next fall and is intended to position the brand with its Gore-Tex performance shell, Paclite and stretch inserts and a lifetime waterproof guarantee.
Certain styles within the collection come with X-Static lining. Hurricane items are designed to be waterproof, windproof and highly breathable and feature a Pro-Trim waist cinching system, offer a Pro-Wipe club cleaner and waterproof YKK zippers with a pocket ball cleaner.
Other features include a wrist rain channel, lycra action cuff, Sunice patented V collar. Hurricane items can also be machine washed and dried.
The Tornado technical system features the proprietary fabric FlexVent and highlights the stretch/waterproof category with a four-year waterproof guarantee.
Designed to be breathable, comfortable, lightweight and quiet, other features include Wx-Tech coating, X-Static lining, Pro-Trim waist clinching system, Pro-Wipe club cleaners, waterproof YKK zippers, lycra action cuffs and a pocket ball cleaner.
Designed to be windproof, water-resistant and comfortable, the Sport Layers technical system offers three-layer construction, while offering freedom of movement and maintenance of a proper micro climate between the body and garment.
According to Mark Fletcher of the Fletcher Leisure Group in Montreal, Sunice is gaining outstanding mileage out of its relationship with Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium.
Fletcher pointed out that on Day 2 in Vancouver, the women’s moguls final averaged 6.6-million viewers, peaking at eight million as Jenn Heil won Canada’s first medal. That made it one of the most-watched broadcasts on Canadian television this year.
What will follow looks to be beneficial for Sunice as it takes centre-stage with the consortium.
“The networks are getting record viewing audiences, so we are very excited about the exposure,” said Fletcher.
