Sun Mountain Torrent Stretches With The Golf Swing

March 20, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Sun Mountain rain gear now includes the Torrent collection to offer waterproof protection, using a new four-way stretch woven fabric to shield against wind and rain, while remaining breathable and stretching with the golf swing.

Torrent is available in a full-zip jacket and pant for men and women. Torrent LT is lighter in weight and comes in three men’s styles, including a jacket, half-zip pullover and short sleeve pullover, plus pant.

Construction of the Torrent consists of a waterproof/breathable membrane laminated to a four-way stretch woven fabric that is treated with an advanced durable water repellant (DWR) finish.

Sewn to the interior of the garment is a liner to protect the waterproof membrane and to offer a slick layer that does not catch and grab on players’ clothes.

“We have been working diligently for the past couple of years to find a stretchable, woven fabric to complement our ever-popular knit RainFlex line of rain gear,” said Sun Mountain Founder Rick Reimers.

Torrent LT is a lighter weight version of Torrent with its laminated liner, as opposed to the sewn-in liner on the Torrent.

Torrent LT is 2.5 layer construction, a method popular in the outdoor industry, which means the garment is made from the same stretchable woven fabric and uses the same waterproof/breathable laminate and DWR as the Torrent but has a lighter liner.

Both Torrent and Torrent LT come with a two-year waterproof guarantee.

Additional features on the Torrent jacket include expansion pleats on the back for additional range of motion, two-way full-length zippers, adjustable hems and cuffs, internal chest pocket, and hand-warmer pockets.

The Torrent pant offers a zipper fly, elastic waist with dual cinch adjustment, zippered back pocket and pass-through hand warmer pockets, snap system at the hem that allows for easy adjustment of pant length and lower leg zippers with full gussets.

Sun Mountain is adding the hip belt from its Zero-G golf bag to the Swift X, the company’s lightest full-sized bag, and calling it the Swift ZG.

The Swift ZG is carried like a traditional dual strap bag, with the belt positioned at the hip and closed with an adjustable Velcro strap to transfer the majority of the weight off the shoulders to aid in a more upright posture and reduced body fatigue.

Sun Mountain Swift“We have had other strap systems that transfer weight from the shoulders to the waist,” said Sun Mountain president Ed Kowachek. “The advantage of the hip belt on the Swift ZG is that it’s one size fits all.”

The belt on the Swift ZG is a padded strap that threads between the bag and the hip pad, adjusts simply from 28 to 48” inches and then holds tight with a Velcro closure. The belt holds the bag securely against the golfer’s body to keep it from twisting or bouncing.

Swift bags accommodate a full set of clubs with a 8.5-inch, two-way top and five pockets including a full-length clothing pocket, velour-lined valuables pocket, ball pocket and water bottle pouch.

Sun Mountain also incorporated the integrated lift assist handle, top-molded stand attachment for increased stability and durability, as well as the patented Roller Bottom leg mechanism for easy activation.

The men’s Swift ZG and Swift X come standard with Sun Mountain’s exclusive X-Strap Dual Strap System. The Swift line also includes junior and women’s models that come standard with the E-Z Fit Dual Strap System.

Sun Mountain Introduces Two Bags In One

Sun Mountain has gone for versatility with the introduction of new features designed to allow its lightweight bags to work equally well as carry or cart bags.

Features include a cart-friendly bottom that allows the bags to sit straight when on a cart, cart strap pass-through, leg lock and additional handles.

Sunmountain Three 5Sun Mountain carry bags with cart-friendly features include the Superlight 3.5, Superlight SLX, H2NO, Four 5 and Zero-G.

Sun Mountain’s patented top has a built-in handle to provide a convenient spot to grab when picking the bag up and removing it from the shoulder. In 2011, the bag has three hand-holds for ease of use in lifting the bag on and off the cart.

Another new cart-friendly feature is the new leg-lock to secure the golf bag legs while the bag is on a cart. An additional cart-friendly feature, specific to the Superlight 3.5, is a tunnel for the cart strap to pass through to protect the contents of the pocket from being squashed and to allow all pockets to be accessible.

Along with these new cart-friendly features, technical advancements on the entire Superlight line include a  top mounted stand attachment for increased durability and stability, patented roller bottom and recessed Y-Spring activator for faster leg action and tight-to-the-bag retraction.

Other features include triangular non-slip foot pads that resist sinking into grass and sliding on slick surfaces, and a  full-length clothing pocket, velour-lined valuable pouch, water bottle pouch, and ball and accessory pockets.

Caddie Bag Designed To Ease The Load

October 5, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

The new Caddie Bag from Sun Mountain is based on the success of that company’s Superlight 3.5, a lightweight stand bag with a reversible single strap that allows the bag to be carried comfortably on either shoulder.

The Caddie Bag features a 9.5-inch, six-way oval top with full-length club dividers and integrated handle. The strap system features a pivoting, non-slip strap that is contoured for better comfort.

The Caddie Bag has six pockets that include a beverage pouch, velour-lined valuables pocket, yardage book pocket and full-length clothing pocket.

The stand system features a top mounted stand attachment for durability and stability and Sun Mountain’s patented Roller Bottom and recessed Y-Spring activator for faster leg action and tight-to-the-bag retraction.

The legs are lightweight, high-tensile aluminum with triangular, non-slip footpads that resist sinking into grass and sliding on slick surfaces.

“In the past, some golfers at clubs with caddie programs would buy larger and heavier cart bags because of the single strap,” said Sun Mountain president Ed Kowachek. “With the new Caddie Bag, golfers can get the single strap their caddie prefers in a lightweight bag that their caddie will appreciate.”
