New Formotion apparel from adidas Golf features a complete upper body system that is designed to move with the golfer’s body and to mirror muscle contours in order to eliminate restriction.
“After significant study of the golfer’s body in motion, we have been able to engineer our Formotion products to reduce and optimize seams for the sport of golf and offer a fitted, modern, athletic silhouette with all the benefits of our ClimaCool technology,” said Patricia Dahan, senior director of global apparel for adidas Golf.

Formotion includes a new wrap-around shoulder construction and seam reduction to elevate freedom of motion.
A curved hem is designed to promote a more athletic fit and feel, helping the garment fit snugly to the body, while the raglan sleeve construction extends up and around the back to allow the garment to glide and roll with the movement and motion of the body during the swing.
Re-engineered mesh is designed to enhance airflow in and vapor to flow out in critical areas to increase the degree of cool, dry comfort. Formotion also has a sport-specific 3D design, with breathable, moisture-wicking ClimaCool technology.

Fit’s the Thing with New adidas Offering
March 12, 2009 by GNN · Leave a Comment
Custom footbed technology for better support and comfort is the main idea behind the new FitRX and FitRX Sport shoes from adidas.
“Our focus on innovative technology and award-winning design has driven positive marketplace momentum and market share increases year after year,” said Dave Ortley, global senior director of footwear for adidas Golf.
“For 2009, we’ve turned our focus to fit, with the sole purpose of delivering unmatched individualized comfort,” he added.
The foundation of FitRX is the 3D FitFOAM inlay sole that is designed to provide support, comfort and a customized fit.
The top layer consists of thicker memory foam to envelop the foot and conform to individual contours. Two different densities of polyurethane make up the base layer, one to absorb shock in critical areas and the other for support to protect the foot and reduce fatigue.
FitRX also has a geoFIT ankle collar that places anatomically-positioned padding in critical areas to keep it comfortably secured within the shoe. Strategically-positioned forefoot flex channels in the outsole are also designed to reduce foot fatigue and promote comfort.
FitRX Sport also incorporates 50/50 Protect technology, combining a water-resistant TPU shield with membrane-lined mesh to surround the lower half of the shoe and protect the foot from mud, dirt, wet grass, etc.
The top half of the shoe utilizes a lightweight and breathable air mesh for improved temperature management, flexibility, comfort and an athletic look. The FitRX Sport also has an air-mesh, slip-on bootie construction in the collar.
Both shoes also incorporate a variety of additional technologies for comfort and performance and each comes in a variety of colour combinations.

New ClimaProof Jacket Has Many Looks and Functions
October 20, 2008 by GNN · Leave a Comment
After the 2008 golf season, Canadians are definitely aware of the various weather conditions they face on the golf course.
“Our ambition was to reinvent the rain jacket to make it more versatile, so it can be worn in a variety of conditions and to make it less restrictive so that every type of shot can be executed with absolute freedom,” said Tiss Dahan, senior director of apparel for adidas Golf.
That ambition led to the introduction of the ClimaProof Storm 3-Way Convertible Jacket that can be worn as a long sleeve, short sleeve and vest depending on the weather.
The ClimaProof jacket unites structural design and four-way stretch properties to eliminate excess material that can get in the way of the swing. That includes a thin, but warm, removable 360-degree compression wrap inner layer for increased support and the elimination of a bulkier liner.
Other features of the jacket include convertible sleeves with stretch elbows for easy movement, shaped and adjustable cuffs for a more comfortable fit, an inner collar that flips up for more protection, bonded paneling in critical comfort zones to eliminate seams and waterproof zippers that eliminate the need for a storm flap.
The ClimaProof Storm also comes with silicone grippers on each shoulder to prevent bag strap slippage and a concealed internal right pocket.
“What I love about the jacket is that, when I bend down to putt or chip, it’s not bulky, so it doesn’t bother my stroke,” said Dustin Johnson, winner of the 2008 Turning Stone Classic.
Justin Rose echoes that opinion. “This jacket gives you so much versatility, you can take the sleeves off and turn it into a vest. You can tailor your jacket to how severe the weather is,” said Rose.
The ClimaProof Storm 3-Way Convertible Jacket comes in black, zinc-black and Barez and in sizes small through XXL and comes with a three-year waterproof warranty.
Also new is the ClimaProof Storm Pants that add to a complete rainsuit. Features include hidden stretch waist tabs, ergonomic back-pocket entry, back-knee articulation, three-way adjustable length and four-way stretch material. The pants are available in sizes small through XXL and in black and zinc-black.

TaylorMade-adidas to Acquire Ashworth
October 13, 2008 by GNN · Leave a Comment
TaylorMade-adidas Golf has entered into an agreement to acquire all outstanding shares of Ashworth Inc. for $1.90 per share. The transaction value is $72.8-million, including assumption of $46.3-million of Ashworth debt.
“Ashworth is a well-established, authentic golf apparel brand with a strong heritage and represents an excellent addition to TaylorMade and adidas Golf,” said adidas AG chairman and chief executive officer Herbert Hainer. “This acquisition underscores our commitment to continued growth in the golf category.”
Mark King, president and CEO of TaylorMade-adidas Golf, says the deal strengthens the company’s golf offerings.
“We are excited to bring Ashworth alongside our industry-leading TaylorMade and adidas Golf brands. TaylorMade-adidas Golf’s mission is to be the best performance golf company in the world and adding Ashworth is another important step in achieving that goal,” said King.
The deal will not only complement TaylorMade-adidas, but also drive Ashworth to new heights, according to Ashworth CEO Allan Fletcher.
“This deal provides exciting prospects for our colleagues, partners and customers around the world,” said Fletcher.
“The Ashworth brand fits perfectly into TaylorMade-adidas Golf’s line-up of brands and together, we will be able to increase efficiency and drive the golf apparel business going forward, leveraging a broad set of resources,” said Fletcher.
3D Molding Enhances New Adidas Tour 360 3.0
September 10, 2008 by GNN · Leave a Comment
The new Tour360 3.0 is building on the popular Tour360 and Tour360 II models that went before it.
One of its main features is adidas Golf’s 360WRAP that surrounds the midfoot area to provide upper stability, better fit and increased leverage.
What’s new is a three-dimensional molding that allows the saddle to hug the midfoot more securely. The 3D fit is also the basis of the Tour360 3.0’s external Heel Cup technology. Inspired by cycling shoes that enhance power transfer to the pedals through secure heel-fit systems, the three-dimensional, molded external heel-counter locks the foot in place to reduce heel slippage and maximize the golfer’s power transfer during the swing.
The Tour360 3.0 also features adidas Golf’s full footbed Powerband Chassis and split outsole Tour Platform, with a 10-cleat configuration for added traction, especially at higher swing speeds.
Dynamic Traxion cleats are designed in a low-profile, turf-friendly shape to eliminate spike marks and feature flexible legs to improve grip, comfort and durability.
