Custom footbed technology for better support and comfort is the main idea behind the new FitRX and FitRX Sport shoes from adidas.
“Our focus on innovative technology and award-winning design has driven positive marketplace momentum and market share increases year after year,” said Dave Ortley, global senior director of footwear for adidas Golf.
“For 2009, we’ve turned our focus to fit, with the sole purpose of delivering unmatched individualized comfort,” he added.
The foundation of FitRX is the 3D FitFOAM inlay sole that is designed to provide support, comfort and a customized fit.
The top layer consists of thicker memory foam to envelop the foot and conform to individual contours. Two different densities of polyurethane make up the base layer, one to absorb shock in critical areas and the other for support to protect the foot and reduce fatigue.
FitRX also has a geoFIT ankle collar that places anatomically-positioned padding in critical areas to keep it comfortably secured within the shoe. Strategically-positioned forefoot flex channels in the outsole are also designed to reduce foot fatigue and promote comfort.
FitRX Sport also incorporates 50/50 Protect technology, combining a water-resistant TPU shield with membrane-lined mesh to surround the lower half of the shoe and protect the foot from mud, dirt, wet grass, etc.
The top half of the shoe utilizes a lightweight and breathable air mesh for improved temperature management, flexibility, comfort and an athletic look. The FitRX Sport also has an air-mesh, slip-on bootie construction in the collar.
Both shoes also incorporate a variety of additional technologies for comfort and performance and each comes in a variety of colour combinations.
