The 2011 CN Canadian Women’s Open will be played at Hillsdale Golf and Country Club in Mirabel, Que., just outside of Montreal.
Canada’s only LPGA Tour event will be played Aug. 25-28 next year, with a purse of $2.25-million. The last time the Women’s Open was played in the Montreal area was in 2002 when Meg Mallon won at Summerlea Golf and Country Club in Vaudreuil-Dorion.
“Hillsdale has hosted premier provincial and national golf events such as the Canadian Amateur and Mid Amateur championships as well as the CN Canadian Women’s Tour since our inception in 1953,” said host club tournament chair Howard Grundman,
“With easy access only 25 minutes from downtown Montreal, thousands of golf fans will have a great opportunity to view the LPGA stars in action,” he added.
The tournament is expected to generate close to $10-million into the Quebec economy, with over $7-million to the Montreal area.
This year’s Women’s Open will take place Aug. 26-29 at Winnipeg’s St. Charles Country Club.
