The Manulife Financial LPGA Classic has raised its purse to $1.5-million U.S., an increase of $200,000.
With the increase in prize money, the 2014 winner will receive $225,000 compared to the $195,000 won by 2013 champ Hee Young Park.
The 2014 Manulife Financial Classic will be played June 5-8 at Grey Silo Golf Course in Waterloo, Ont.
In other news, the tournament recently received a Gold Driver Award from the LPGA Tournament Owners Association to recognize excellence in marketing during an annual meeting in Naples, Fla.
The Manulife event also receive an award for its charity promotion with the St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation’s Red Day. It also took silver awards in categories such as event advertising, marketing materials, television advertising and website.
