Cody Blick of Alamo, Calif., shot a second consecutive round of six-under 66 on Friday at Bell Bay Golf Club to take the lead at the Cape Breton Open.
Blick had seven birdies against just one bogey on the day to lead by two over South Carolina’s Will Starke and by four over Alabama’s Robby Shelton,
“If there’s one club that matters, it’s the putter. It just started rolling and it got off to a hot start this morning and I kind of kept it going from yesterday,” said Blick
Jamie Sadowski of St. Paul, Alta., is tied for eighth, five shots off the lead, after he shot a 69 on Friday.
“I’ve done a real good job of just keeping the ball in front of me. There are some holes that are gettable and some flags you can go at and there are some that aren’t,” said Sadlowski, a two-time World Long Drive champion.
“I’m still playing pretty aggressively. I probably hit eight or nine drivers today because the ball’s not going very far to begin with and when you’re facing crosswinds, for me it’s a lot easier to control it,” he added.
