What started off as a shaky day for David Hearn turned into a memorable finish that ended with him posting his second consecutive 66 on Saturday at the Shriners Hospital for Children Open in Las Vegas.
Hearn goes into Sunday’s final round in a tie for ninth, six shots off the lead.
Hearn opened with a double bogey on the first hole that was followed by a bogey before he began steadying the ship with a birdie on the third hole, the first of four on the front nine to make the turn at one under.
An eagle on 13 was followed by birdies on 15 and 16 to finish the day at five under. He goes into the fourth round at 11 under.
Adam Hadwin shot a two-under 69 and is in a tie for 50th at five under, while Nick Taylor is a shot back after a two-over 73 on Saturday.

On the Champions Tour, Stephen Ames shot a three-under 68 in the second round of the Greater Hickory Kia Classic at Rock Barn in Conover, N.C., where he’s tied for 17th at five under, seven shots off the lead.
Jim Rutledge is tied for 52nd and Rod Spittle is tied for 62nd.
