Brad Fritsch is putting in an admirable effort to at least get into the Web.com Tour Final that get underway in a couple of weeks and try to regain status on the PGA Tour.
Fritsch came into this week’s Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C., in 205th in FedEx Cup standings. With the final FedEx Cup regular season standings decided after the Wyndham, only players who finished 126th through 200th are eligible for the Web.com Finals.
Fritsch followed up his first round 67 on Thursday, with a four-under 66 that saw his only bogey of the day come on the 18th hole. At seven under, Fritsch is tied for 19th going into the weekend.
David Hearn is attempting to stay within the top 125 who move on to the FedEx Cup playoffs. Currently in 121st spot, Hearn shot a 68 on Friday and is tied for 37th at five under.

PGA Tour Champions
Stephen Ames opened the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open in Endicott, N.Y., with a two-under 70 and is tied for 23rd going into the final two rounds.
Rod Spittle is another shot back and tied for 35th.

Ben Silverman of Thornhill, Ont., who won last week’s Price Cutter Charity Championship, shot his second consecutive three-under 68 and was tied for 16th when play was called due to darkness with some players still on the course at the News Sentinel Open in Knoxville, Tenn.
