A 14-year-old Canadian amateur has qualified to play in this week’s Canadian Pacific Women’s Open.
Tiffany Kong of Vancouver finished in a three-way tie for third at even par 72 with Calgary’s Nicole Zhang and Swede Louis Stahle in Monday qualifying.
The top four finishers earned spots in this week’s field, meaning a three-way playoff. where Kong and Stahle matched pars, while Zhang bogeyed the par five 18th at Pitt Meadows Golf Club in Pitt Meadows, B.C.
Australia’s Stacey Keating. the 2008 Canadian Women’s Amateur champion shot a two-under 70 to finish atop the leaderboard, followed by Kristen Park of Buena Park, Calif., who finished with a one-under 71.
The addition of Kong brings to 14 the number of Canadians in the field this week.
