Three national amateur team members have received exemptions into next week’s RBC Canadian Open at Royal Montreal.
They include Taylor Pendrith of Richmond Hill, Ont., Adam Svensson of Surrey, B.C., and Corey Conners of Listowel, Ont.
Pendrith, 23, is Canada’s highest ranked male amateur on the World Amateur Golf Rankings at No. 18.
A recent graduate of Kent State University, Pendrith will make his first start at the RBC Canadian Open after recently claiming the Monroe Invitational title and tying for second at the Ontario Men’s Amateur Championship.
At No. 27 in the world, Svensson, 20, will make his second start at the RBC Canadian Open after an outstanding sophomore year at Barry University, in which he won seven tournaments and was awarded the Jack Nicklaus Award as the most outstanding Division II men’s golfer.
At No. 39 in the world, Conners, 22, recently reached the finals at the North and South Amateur Championship.
Three more exemptions will be awarded to the top three finishers on PGA Tour Canada’s Order of Merit following this week’s Stall Foundation Open in Thunder Bay, Ont.
The final four exemptions will be determined through Monday qualifying at Golf Saint-Raphaël in L’Île-Bizard, Que.
