The U.S. Women’s Open at Oakmont Country Club this week will feature 10 Canadians, the most since 1998, including LPGA Tour regulars Alena Sharp of Hamilton, Charlottetown’s Lorie Kane and Samantha Richdale of Kelowna, B.C. (pictured).
Kirby Dreher of Fort St. John, B.C., who recently turned pro, will also be in the field, along with national amateur team members Jennifer Kirby of Paris, Ont., Sara Maude Juneau of Fossambault, Que., and Nicole Vandermade of Brantford, Ont.
Sharp, Kirby and Vandermade are all members of the Brantford Golf and Country Club in Brantford, Ont.
Rounding out the Canadian contingent will be Team Canada development players Rebecca Lee-Bentham of Richmond Hill, Ont., and Christine Wong of Richmond, B.C.
Calgary amateur Nicole Zhang will also play.
