Amateur Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ont., carded a final round one-over 72 to capture the season’s second CN Canadian Women’s Tour event at Club de golf Beloeil in Beloeil, Que., on Wednesday.
Henderson, 14, entered final round play with a single stroke lead after posting an opening-round 67 on Tuesday.
She recorded four birdies to close the tournament at three under to win by two over Lisa Ferrero of Lodi, Calif.
Henderson also just earned a berth in the 2012 U.S Girls’ Junior Championship by tying for first at a qualifying event in Penfield, N.Y.
With her win on Wednesday, Henderson earned an exemption into the 2012 CN Canadian Women’s Open, which will be held at the Vancouver Golf Club in Coquitlam, B.C. in August.
With the exemption, Henderson is believed to be the youngest player ever to participate in the Women’s Open, according to the records at the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame.
“It’s so exciting and I’m really looking forward to it,” said Henderson. “Hopefully, I can have some good rounds down there and play well.”
The season’s final CN Canadian Women’s Tour event is scheduled for June 25-27 at Legends on the Niagara in Niagara Falls, Ont.
