PGA Tour rookie Nick Taylor got off to a blazing start to the second round of the Sanderson Farms Championship on Friday in Jackson, Miss., putting up five birdies on his first seven holes to move into a tie for first.
Taylor bogeyed his eighth on the 17th hole after starting on the back nine to make the turn at four under and added another bogey on his second nine to finish the day with a three-under 69.
Taylor goes into the weekend in third place at eight under, but he didn’t give up any ground of the leaders. He still trails by two, the same margin he had going into Friday after his first round 67.
David Hearn is tied for 36th at three under after finishing Friday with an even par 72, the same score posted by Adam Hadwin, who is a shot behind Hearn at two under.
Play was suspended due to darkness, but Roger Sloan will miss the cut after posting a 75 on Friday to leave him at five over. The projected cut is one under.
