Canadians at the Symetra Tour Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla., had up and down rounds over 36 holes after rain washed out Saturday’s third round, which will force the event into a Monday final after darkness ended any hope of completing it on Sunday.
Once the event is finished on Monday, the top 10 players on the tour’s money list at that point will receive full-time status on the LPGA Tour for 2014.
All the Canadians had completed their fourth round Sunday evening, including a couple who were in the top 10 coming into the Tour Championship, when Sue Kim of Langley, B.C., and Hamilton’s Alena Sharp were fourth and ninth, respectively.
However, Kim shot a 68 in the third round to move into a tie for sixth, but came back with an 80 in the fourth and is tied for 31st at three over along with Sharp, who followed a third round 71 with a 77.
Also in a tie for 31st is Samantha Richdale of Kelowna, B.C., who followed a third round 72 with a final round 76. Richdale was 25th on the money list coming into the event.
Nicole Vandermade of Brantford, Ont., leads the Canadian contingent after scores of 70-71 over the final two rounds, which left her in a tie for ninth at three under, nine shots off the lead.
