Spain fired a collective four-under par to erase an eight-stroke deficit against South Korea and win in a playoff at the World Junior Girls Championship at the Marshes Golf Club in Ottawa.
“This is a dream come true. To beat a strong team like Korea is something else,” said Spanish coach Nacho Gervas.
“They are so strong that, at times, you feel like you are playing for second place. I told (his players) they had the game to do well today and if we played our game, you never know what can happen,” said Gervas.
In individual play, Seo-yun Kwon of South Korea defeated Alessia Nobilio of Spain in a playoff.
Canadian teams finished 19th and 20th, respectively in team standings.
