The hot streak that Hamilton’s Alena Sharp began on Thursday ended abruptly after four holes of the first round JTBC Founders Cup in Phoenix and there was nothing Sharp could do about it except hope it continued Friday.
Sharp opened the first round of the LPGA Tour event by reeling off four consecutive birdies, but she had to leave it on the golf course as play was called due to darkness after a rain delay of four hours earlier in the day at Wildfire Golf Club.
At that point, Sharp was tied for eighth, just two shots off the lead. Play was to resume at 7:30 a.m. local time Friday morning.
