ClubLink isn’t commenting as a publicly-traded company, but a familiar rumour has resurfaced that it is about to sell Glen Abbey in Oakville, Ont.
ClubLink purchased Glen Abbey, the site of this year’s RBC Canadian Open, from what was the Royal Canadian Golf Association in 1998. Glen Abbey has been the site of 26 Canadian Opens.
That latest speculation has ClubLink selling the Abbey to Monarch Homes in a deal that will see the top level, not including the valley holes, transformed into a housing development.
The sale would certainly offer ClubLink a sizeable profit over the $40-million it paid for the Abbey, but it is known that the company would like to host the Open on its 25th anniversary in 2018.
