Nick Taylor, who tied for 15th at the Albertsons Boise Open on the Web .com Tour on Sunday, will not be playing in this week’s RBC Canadian Open at Royal Montreal despite being offered an exemption.
Presumably, Taylor is looking to focus on the Web .com Tour after jumping from 95th to 75th on the money list. The top 25 at the end of the season graduate to the PGA Tour.
An exemption into the Canadian Open has been awarded to North Vancouver’s Eugene Wong, who in ninth place is currently the highest Canadian on PGA Tour Canada’s Order of Merit.
Chris Himmerich of Kitchener, Ont., who recently won the Investors Group Ontario Amateur, an event that saw him shoot a final round 63, has also been awarded an exemption. Himmerich is currently 61st on the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
