The 2017 Web.com Tour season opened in powerful wind, with inflated scores and a first round that was suspended due to darkness at the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic at Sandals Emerald Bay in Sunday.
Of players who had finished, American Tom Lovelady led with an even par 72 and that had to be considered an accomplishment on a day that saw afternoon tee times delayed due to the strong winds.
Six of the eight Canadians playing had finished their rounds and Corey Conners of Listowel, Ont., led that crew after a seven-over 79 on Sunday.
Toronto’s Albin Choi was three over after eight holes when play was called, leaving him tied for 35th overnight. Adam Cornelson of Langley, B.C., was four over through four and tied for 43rd when play ended.
