PING Canada has returned as a sponsor of the Canadian Junior Golf Association for the 13th consecutive year.
What has now become a fixture on the CJGA schedule, PING will be title sponsor for the CJGA PING Canadian Junior Match Play Championship, the only match play event on the CJGA’s national schedule.
The annual match play event is one of three national championship events on the schedule and will run from July 21-24 at Lakeridge Links Golf Club in Whitby, Ont.
“Since 2001 PING has supported the Canadian Junior Match Play Championship and is very proud to be associated with this premier event for aspiring young golfers,” said PING Canada general manager Dave Wilson.
“We believe the CJGA does a tremendous job developing the environment for young golfers to test their skills and our involvement is focused on supporting their efforts,” added Wilson.
“Match play is a unique format that requires different thinking to be successful and the players get an opportunity to experience this in a wonderful environment provided by the CJGA,” he added.
This year’s event will see a field of 98 players’ tee it up in their respective divisions in two qualifying stroke play rounds. At the completion of round two, the field will be cut to the top 16 players in each division, seeded based on their stroke play scores.
A champion will be crowned after four rounds of matches.
“We have established a long and rich relationship with PING Canada over the years of our partnership,” said Brad Parkins, chief operations officer of the CJGA.
“The PING Canadian Junior Match Play Championship is the only one of its kind in Canada and we’re excited to continue to offer this event as it is one of the most popular within our membership,” he added.
