After his victory at the Tour Championship of Canada, Vancouver’s Ryan Williams was named the Freedom 55 Financial Canadian Player of the Year at the Sunningdale Golf and Country Club.
Williams finished as the top Canadian on the 2014 PGA Tour Canada Order of Merit and earned a $10,000 prize to go with $40,945 in earnings in a season that was highlighted by three top-10 finishes including his win.
While he just missed the top five who earned status on the Web .com Tour next year, Williams finished sixth overall on the Order of Merit and is exempt into the finals of the 2014 Web .com Tour qualifying school.
Joel Dahmen of Clarkston, Wash., took PGA Tour Canada player of the year honours. He led the Order of Merit all season and finished with $80,992 in earnings.
The other four to earn status on the Web .com Tour next year by finishing in the top five on the Order of Merit include Matt Harmon of Grand Haven, Mich., Timothy Madigan of Rio Rancho, N.M., Brock Mackenzie of Seattle and Greg Eason of England.
Joining Williams in earning exemptions into the final stage of Web .com Q-school by finishing in spots six through 10 on the Order of Merit are Nate McCoy of West Des Moines, Iowa, Josh Persons of Fargo, N.D., Wes Homan of Cincinnati and Mark Silvers of Savannah, Ga.
Players finishing 11 through 20 on the Order of Merit earn an exemption into the second stage of Web .com Q-school.
