Ben Silverman of Thornhill, Ont., is back in familiar territory after he shot his second consecutive, three-under 68 in the second round of the Portland Open on Friday.
At six under, Silverman is tied for 10th at the midway point of the Web.com Tour event, along with Corey Conners of Listowel, Ont., who shot a one-under 70 on Friday. Both are seven shots off the lead.
Should Silverman hold or improve his position on the weekend, it would be his third consecutive top 10 finish after a win two weeks ago at the Price Cutter Charity Championship, followed by a T7 at last week’s News Sentinel Open.
Conners came into the Portland Open in 50th spot on the money list, $68,557 below the 25th and final spot among players who will move on to the PGA Tour next year, but with an $800,000 overall purse this week, it is possible to move into the top 25, along with Silverman.
