Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C., Vancouver’s Eugene Wong and Matt Hill of Bright’s Grove, Ont., have received exemptions into the 2010 RBC Canadian Open, which will take place July 22-25 at Toronto’s St. George’s Golf and Country Club.
That trio will join Cam Burke of New Hamburg, Ont., who earned his exemption after winning the 2009 Canadian Amateur for the second time in as many years.
“They are among the best young golfers in the world and we are certain to see exciting play from them as they compete with the PGA Tour’s biggest and best names at St. George’s in July,” said Golf Canada executive director Scott Simmons.
Currently the number-two ranked player on the world amateur golf ranking and the recent winner of the prestigious Ben Hogan Award, Taylor returns to the Open for a third straight year.
Wong, 19, is a past Canadian Juvenile champion and was recently named the 2010 Jack Nicklaus Award recipient as the Golf Coaches Association of America Collegiate NCAA Division I Player of the Year. Wong is currently 17th on the world amateur ranking.
Hill, who made his professional golf debut at the Memorial Tournament, makes his second appearance at Open. He is a past Canadian Juvenile Boy’s champion and the 2009 NCAA Division I individual champion.
