Vijay Singh, Camilo Villegas and Geoff Ogilvy have confirmed they will be at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver in a couple of weeks for the RBC Canadian Open.
“We’re less than two weeks out from the RBC Canadian Open and our field of competitors for Shaughnessy continues to get stronger,” said tournament director Bill Paul.
“Adding a former Canadian Open champion in Vijay Singh plus PGA Tour stars Camilo Villegas and Geoff Ogilvy only strengthens what I would say is our strongest field in recent history.”
It was also announced that Canadians Adam Hadwin, the low Canadian at last year’s Open, Nick Taylor and Matt Hill have been given exemptions into the event.
“Adam has been playing as well as any Canadian over the past year since finishing as the low Canadian at last year’s Open and Matt and Nick are two of this country’s most promising young golfers,” said Paul.
“We are hoping that each of these talented competitors can capitalize on a start in our national championship to build momentum in their professional careers,” he added.
Jon Mills of Belleville, Ont., was also offered an exemption to compete at Shaughnessy, but turned it down to focus his efforts on the Nationwide Tour.
