The R&A has published a report detailing what it calls a precise number of golf facilities around the world.
The report, produced by the National Golf Foundation in the U.S. over four years, states that by the end of 2014, there were 34,011 golf facilities in 206 countries around the world with 79 per cent located in 10 countries, of which Canada is one
It also indicates that there are 696 golf courses under construction or in advanced planning stages around the world, which would raise the global supply by around two per cent if completed.
The report also states that Canada has the world’s third-largest golf supply with 2,363 facilities, with Ontario and Quebec accounting for 48 per cent of total supply. The Canadian information is on Page 14.
