Jared du Toit, who captured national attention with his performance at last year’s RBC Canadian Open, is once again making a lot of noise early in his professional career.
In only his second event since turning pro, du Toit, playing as a single, shot a 10-under 61 in Saturday’s third round of the GolfBC Championship in Kelowna, B.C. He finished the day with nine birdies, an eagle and one bogey and is tied for ninth going into the final round.
“I was just thrilled to play the weekend and to go try and shoot a great score. I love playing as a single, so that was awesome for me. I tried to birdie every hole and give myself a good look and I played well,” said du Toit after setting the Gallagher’s Canyon course record.
At 11 under, du Toit is six shots behind Robby Shelton of Wilmer, Ala., who shot a a six-under 65 to extend his lead to three shots.
Vancouver’s Seann Harlingten is tied for sixth at 12 under after firing his third consecutive 67 on Saturday.
