Michael Jordan will be in Toronto soon and the Raptors will not have anything to do with the visit.
The NBA legend has joined a field at the Mike Weir Charity Classic that includes Kevin Costner, George Lopez and Martin Brodeur to name a few. The Weir Classic will be played Monday, July 20, at Glen Abbey in Oakville, Ont., prior to the RBC Canadian Open.
“He’s become a good buddy and has always gone out of is way to support community and charitable activities. He’ll be a tremendously popular draw for the fans,” said Weir.
“The RBC Canadian Open has turned into a world-class affair and the support I’ve personally received from the celebrities committed to my charity day has been fantastic,” he added.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Mike Weir Foundation in support of children’s wellness initiatives.
Canadian LPGA Tour player Lorie Kane of Charlottetown will also join the field, as will Hockey Hall of Fame member Paul Coffey.
It was also announced that Steve Nash withdrew from the event for personal reasons.
