Amateur Taylor Pendrith shot a five-under 65 at the RBC Canadian Open on Thursday and is tied for third, one shot off the lead held be Americans Michael Putnam and Tim Petrovic.

Two shots back of Pendrith in a tie for 16th is David Hearn, who shot a three-under 67, while Graham DeLaet and Vancouver’s Eugene Wong are each tied for 44th after they each shot 69.

At the Midwest Classic in Overland Park, Ks., Riley Wheeldon of Comox, B.C., shot a three-under 68 and is tied for 21st, four shots off the lead.
