Highly respected CBC news anchor Peter Mansbridge will be the keynote speaker at the Canadian International Turfgrass Conference and Trade Show, which gets underway with pre-conference seminars and discussions on Friday at the Sheraton Centre Toronto.
Mansbridge will speak at opening ceremonies at 7:45 a.m. Sunday morning.
“Pete is an avid golfer and knows the game well,” said Ken Cousineau, executive director of the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association.
“He’s going to talk about traits that he sees in people who he deals with and he deals with everybody from President (Barack) Obama to some of the most famous people in the world – the leadership traits that he sees in those people and how the rest of us can benefit from that and learn observing those people.
“He will obviously have many stories to tell and again, a lot of that will be about leadership and about trying to overcome issues and problems,” said Cousineau, adding that the Mansbridge address complements several panel discussions and seminars.
“We have one panel of USGA agronomists that Keith Barlett (St. George’s Golf and Country Club) is going to moderate,” said Cousineau. “We have another panel of Canadian architects that Scott Simmons from the RCGA is going to moderate. There’s lots to choose from.”
