T.J. Vogel of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., carded a three-under 67 on Friday at Uplands Golf Club in Victoria to take a two-stroke lead into the final round of the Bayview Place Cardtronics Open, the second event of the 2017 Mackenzie Tour–PGA Tour Canada season.
Vogel made three birdies, an eagle and two bogeys to maintain his overnight lead of two strokes over Jhared Hack of Lake Mary, Fla. and Max Rottluff of Dusseldorf, Germany, heading into Sunday’s final round.
Calgary’s James Love is just three shots back after he shot a bogey-free 61 on a day in which he looked like he might record a 59, something he accomplished last year in the first stage of Web.com Tour qualifying school.
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t thinking about it after getting eight under through 14. I mean, three more in the last four holes. I’m playing well,” he said.
Jared du Toit of Kimberley, B.C., is tied for eighth at seven under after he shot a 66 on Saturday.
