Just a couple of weeks after winning the RBC Canadian Open at Glen Abbey in Oakville, Ont., Jason Day is back on top of a leaderboard and in good shape to win his first major title at the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits.
Day shot a six-under 66 to push his score to 15 under on Saturday, but Jordan Spieth, who won this year’s Masters is once again in the hunt. After opening with a birdie, Spieth made the turn at one under before reeling off six birdies on the back nine to finish with a bogey-free 65.
Spieth is at 13 under, two behind Day.
After making the cut on the number, Nick Taylor shot a three-over 75 on Saturday and is tied for 75th going into Sunday’s final round. David Hearn missed the cut at three over.
