With two birdies on his final three holes, Adam Hadwin made a late run at the CareerBuilder Challenge, but fell on shot short of the title in La Quinta, Calif., on Sunday.
Hadwin spent most of the day at even par after a bogey on the par three fourth, followed by a birdie on the par five fifth hole. After making the turn, Hadwin got it to one under with a birdie on the par five 11th hole, but bogeyed the par three 13th to bring him back to even par.
After his third round 59 on Saturday, Hadwin remained in contention with consecutive birdies on 16 and 17, but parred 18 to finish with a 70. That left him at 19 under, one shot behind winner Hudson Swafford, but gave him a PGA Tour career best solo second finish.
His previous best on the PGA Tour came before he was a full-time player. In 2011, Hadwin tied for fourth at the RBC Canadian Open at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver.
