Gord de Laat, a 30-year professional at Toronto’s Weston Golf and Country Club, passed away on the weekend at the age of 100.
Lorne Rubenstein wrote this story on de Laat’s legacy five years ago for the Globe and Mail, while earlier this year, a video here celebrated de Laat’s 100th birthday, a year in which he was also inducted into the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame in Toronto.
GNN blogger Mike Schurman fondly recalled watching de Laat play a nine-hole exhibition with Bill Kozak and John Henrick at a recent PGA of Canada at Tangle Creek in Barrie, Ont. That blog from 2016 is here.
Colin Imrie, head professional at Weston Golf and Country Club, reflects on the legacy of Gordon de Laat here.
