Derek Gillespie of Oshawa, Ont., apparently didn’t get enough of that Louisiana hot sauce that he put all over a second round 65 at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open in Broussard, La., because he poured it on again in Saturday’s third round.
A Monday qualifier into the WebDotCom Tour event, Gillespie followed up with four-under 67 in the third round and is hoping to spice up the final round, which he enters just three shots off the lead.
Gillespie, who is at nine under, had five birdies and his lone bogey on the 16th hole on Saturday was his first since Thursday’s fourth round, which ended in a one-over 72.
Adam Hadwin shot a 68 on Saturday and is tied for 28th at six under.

Whether Gillespie shipped that hot sauce one state over to Stephen Ames at the Valero Texas Open is unclear, but Ames shot a four-under 68 in San Antonio, where he’s tied for 14th going into Sunday’s final round.
Ames is at three under, nine off the lead.
