Crowd control is the main reason behind a change in hole rotation on the front nine at Glen Abbey Golf Club for this year’s RBC Canadian Open in Oakville, Ont.
The first hole will actually be the golf course’s fourth hole and the front nine will continue on from there.
“It came from players,” said tournament director Bill Paul. “It was an idea that I had years ago.
“We wanted to move players around faster with less distraction from green to the next tee,” he added. “We positioned it to about 25 to 30 players at last year’s Open at Glen Abbey and got resounding response to it, so we moved forward to it.”
The back nine at the Abbey will remain the same.
