Living near Raleigh, N.C., this week’s stop on the Web .com Tour was like a home game for Brad Fritsch of Manotick, Ont.
However, that home game was cut short after the first round of the Rex Hospital Open when Fritsch had to withdraw after a one-under 70 on Thursday.
Fritsch, who won and had a T2 finish in his last three events and is second on the tour money list, announced Friday morning on Twitter that he was suffering from sesamoiditis, which affects the long bone connected to the big toe and can affect bones, tendons or surrounding tissue.
“It’s kinda like turf toe (apparently), but not exactly. All I know is, it hurts like a …,” wrote Fritsch.
