For a good part of the day, it seemed Graham DeLaet of Weyburn, Sask., would hold the overnight lead at the Colonial in Fort Worth, Tex., but bogeys on three of his last six holes left him one shot behind leader Matt Kuchar going into Sunday’s final round.
DeLaet did make his fourth birdie of the day on the 18th hole to finish with a one-under 69 at Colonial Country Club to get to 10 under for the tournament and is in a four-way tie for second behind Kuchar, who also had a 69.
With three top 10s so far this year, including a tie for 10th at last week’s Byron Nelson Championship, DeLaet is gunning for the first PGA Tour win of his career.
Coming into Colonial, DeLaet was 56th on the money list, second in greens in regulation, eighth in driving distance and third in total driving stats.
