Graham DeLaet served early notice that 2014 wasn’t going to be much different than 2013, which included seven top-10 finishes and three top threes.
Playing in his first PGA Tour event of the calendar year at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, DeLaet birdied the 18th hole to finish with a 68 that gave him a piece of the lead that disappeared when eventual champion Scott Stallings also birdied 18.
Playing with his Presidents Cup partner Jason Day, both players tied for second at eight under, one behind Stallings, but DeLaet wasn’t the only Canadian to earn a top-10 finish.
Brad Fritsch of Manotick, Ont., finished with a 71 to tie for 10th, his best finish since tying for ninth at last year’s Farmers Insurance Open. For the leaderboard, click here.
On the LPGA Tour, Hamilton’s Alena Sharp was top Canadian, tying for 18th at 10 under, nine behind winner Jessica Korda at the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic. For that leaderboard, click here.
