For most of a weather-delayed day at Colonial Country Club, Graham DeLaet of Weyburn, Sask., held the clubhouse lead at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial where he shot a somewhat erratic 67 with seven birdies and four bogeys.
With the 64 he shot in Thursday’s opening round, that left DeLaet at nine under the the midway point as he sought his first PGA Tour win. However, Matt Kuchar came on late in the day with a five under effort through 15 holes.
With just over three holes left to play in his second round on Saturday, Kuchar holds a one-shot lead over DeLaet, who is solo second.
It wasn’t nearly as pleasant for David Hearn of Brantford, Ont., who saw a 14-shot swing between the opening round when he shot a 64 and Friday’s second round, when he came in with a 78 to miss the cut.
