Toronto’s Sebastian Szirmak made it all the way through 18 holes before thunderstorms ended the third round prematurely on Thursday, but Szirmak had already struck with a four-under 68.
With the leaders only through nine holes, Szirmak is tied for fifth at three under, four shots behind American Seth Green, who holds a two-shot lead on the rest of the field. When play was suspended, 35 players were still on the course.
Cam Burke of New Hamburg, Ont., is tied for 11th after also completing his round before play was called. Burke shot a three-under 69 on Thursday and is at one under.
The first-place finisher following Friday’s final round will receive exempt status, while second through 16th (no ties) will be exempt through the tour’s first reshuffle. The 17th through 40th finishers, including ties, will receive conditional status.
