The Symetra Tour has begun its September swing, with six tournaments left on its schedule, including this week’s Sioux Falls GreatLife Challenge in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Going into Sioux Falls, two Canadians were in the top 10 who will earn LPGA Tour status if they remain in that group until the end of the season.
Augusta James of Bath, Ont., was sixth, with Maude Aimee Leblanc of Sherbrooke, Que., in 10th. For the entire list, click here.
However, the first round in Sioux Falls, from a Canadian perspective, was about Sara-Maude Juneau of Fossambault, Que., who shot a bogey-free, five-under 66 on Thursday and held the lead for most of the day until being overtaken by American Cydney Clanton.
That left Juneau in a tie for second, one shot off the lead, going into Friday’s second round.
Calgary’s Nicole Zhang is tied for eighth after an opening round, two-under 69, while Kirby Dreher of Fort St. John, B.C., Samantha Richdale of Kelowna, B.C., and Leblanc each shot 70 and are tied for 12th.
The leaderboard is here.
Below is what Juneau had to say about her round.
