Jae Yong Kim of North York, Ont., has climbed back into the top 10 at Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada qualifying school in Santee, Calif., where he shots a two-under 70 in Thursday’s third round.
Kim is tied for eighth at one under, 11 shots behind leader John Chin of Temecula, Calif., who shot a six-under 66 on Thursday.
Dual citizen Austin Connelly is tie for 10th at even par after he fired a 69.
Q-school concludes Friday, with the winner receiving fully exempt status, while second through 16th (no ties) will be exempt through the first four events of the schedule and subject to the first reshuffle.
The 17th through 40th-place finishers (including ties) will receive conditional status.

At the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, David Hearn is tied for 12th, five shots off the lead, after a three-under 69 in a first round interrupted by weather and finally suspended due to darkness.
Nick Taylor is just a shot behind Hearn after he shot a 70 on Thursday.

The United Leasing and Finance Championship was also suspended due to darkness in Newburgh, Ind., with Calgary’s Ryan Yip and Toronto’s Lucas Kim tied for 14th, five shots off the lead, after each shot a two-under 70 on Thursday.
Brad Fritsch, who won and had a second-place finish in his previous two starts, Mackenzie Hughes and Roger Sloan are one shot behind Yip and Kim after each fired a one-under 71.
