The Symetra Tour has announced that Brooke Henderson has received one of two sponsor exemptions into the 2015 Florida’s Natural Charity Classic, to be held in Lake Wales, Fla.
Florida high school standout Athena Yang received the other exemption.
The 54-hole stroke play format begins on Friday, March 27 and concludes on Sunday, March 29. There will be a cut to the top 70 and ties following second round play on Saturday, March 28.
Henderson and Yang will join the 144-player field at an event with a $125,000 total tournament purse. The winner will earn $18,750.
“We’re excited to add Brooke and Athena to what is already a great field for the seventh Florida’s Natural Charity Classic,” said Walt Lincer, president of the Florida’s Natural Growers Foundation.
“We know that everyone from Lake Region High School will be out supporting Athena and golf fans will be following Brooke as they compete to win the trophy of oranges,” added Lincer.
Henderson is coming off a Suncoast Ladies’ Tour win last week.
“The Symetra Tour is a great proving ground for women’s golf and I am excited to accept the invitation to play in the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic,” said Henderson.
“As I work toward achieving my goal of playing full time on the LPGA Tour, I appreciate every opportunity I get to tee it up as a professional and I look forward to playing against some tough competition, especially my sister Brittany in Lake Wales,” she added.
Brittany Henderson is a rookie on the Symetra Tour and is expected to play in the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic as well.
