A final decision on the controversial proposed USGA/R&A ban on anchored putting is expected Tuesday when the USGA holds a teleconference to announce what it’s calling “final action on proposed changes to the Rules of Golf.”
The USGA/R&A made the proposal in November and allowed for a 90-day comment period that concluded at the end of February. The decision was said to be coming by the end of spring.
Tuesday’s press conference will be held at USGA headquarters in Far Hills, N.J. and include USGA president Glen Nager, Rules of Golf Committee chairman Mark Newell and executive director Mike Davis.
The 8 a.m. press conference will be carried live on the Golf Channel.
