Whistle Bear Golf Club near Cambridge, Ont., is seeking an equipment manager for a year-round, full-time senior position.
Inspecting, diagnosing and repairing mechanical defects/failures in various golf course equipment including diesel, electric and gasoline-powered equipment.
Good understanding of hydraulic systems.
Experience in properly setting up cutting units for precision mowing as well as reel grinding and back lapping.
Managing the equipment fleet using a computer-based record-keeping system and prioritizing equipment repair and maintenance work as per the requirements of the turf program and golf course superintendent.
Developing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program within the operational budget on all equipment, relative purchases and parts inventory.
Spot-checking equipment for performance on the course, making emergency repairs to equipment on the course and services or supervision of servicing of equipment prior to use.
Overseeing the organization and cleanliness of the shop area and ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
Assisting in training employees on the safe and proper way to operate the equipment.
Regulating employees’ use of equipment in the absence of the superintendent and assistant superintendent, if needed, and performing other duties as directed by the superintendent.
Previous mechanic service experience in the golf industry and/or related field preferred.
Three to five years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment.
Understanding of workplace safety compliance and regulations.
Be self-motivated and hard-working with excellent time management skills.
An ability to function well as part of a team.
Professional appearance and positive attitude.
Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s licence.
Excellent verbal communication skills as well as adequate computer and written skills.
