Second assistant superintendent, Cabot Links/Cabot Cliffs, Inverness, N.S.
Reporting to the golf course assistant superintendent and superintendent, the second assistant will be accountable for the training, supervising and quality control of the turf team. while performing an assortment of daily tasks.
The second assistant superintendent will be responsible for overseeing IPM programs associated with Audubon initiatives and environmental protection policy, while leading and supervising small crews tasked with various golf course and resort enhancement projects.
The second assistant will also be entrusted with training and coaching other associates to ensure our safety and quality control standards are upheld daily.
Reporting daily to the assistant superintendent and superintendent on course activities.
Allocating tools and equipment to crews to ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Maintaining accurate records for all nutrient management, IPM, irrigation and environmental programs.
Implementing accurate inventory management systems with regards to PPE and hand tools.
Exercising best maintenance practices and bring client-focused.
Participating in the company’s Occupational Health and Safety committee.
Assisting and communicating with all other golf and resort operational departments.
Supervising and leading teams to ensure all tasks are completed safely, efficiently and to club standards.
Experience in golf course management with a background in turfgrass management.
A diploma or degree in turfgrass/ golf course management or a related field.
The ability to mentor, teach, coach and motivate a team.
The passion and ability to coordinate the day-to-day operations of a golf course turf department.
A strong understanding of agronomic practices and how they relate to the game of golf.
The willingness to adapt to new methods and standards.
The ability to obtain a Nova Scotia pesticide applicator licence within 90 days of employment.
The ability to track information and produce reports with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must have a valid driver’s license.

Assistant golf superintendent, North Battleford Golf and Country Club, North Battleford, Sask.

Valid chemical applicators’ licence.
Supervise the repair, maintenance and operation of turf equipment and golf cart fleet.
Commitment to ensuring a safe and efficient work environment/health and safety.
Manage all purchases of maintenance supplies and equipment.
Perform other duties as required by the general manager/executive director.
Report directly to the general manager/executive director of golf operations.
