Superintendent, St. Paul Golf Club, Alberta
St. Paul Golf Club in the Lakeland Region of northeast Alberta is seeking a superintendent.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual with an innovative approach to improving playability and aesthetics within budgetary guidelines.
Three to five years experience in a supervisory role as part of a turf care team on a recognized golf course.
Have a degree or diploma in Turf Management from a recognized institution or be currently enrolled or have the equivalent in experience,
Hold a current Pesticide Applicators License or have the ability to certify within 90 days
Knowledge of pest control methods including disease and weed management, while adhering to safety and regulation protocols.
Understanding of irrigation systems and repairs and effective water management.
Ability to supervise and direct staff in daily maintenance and project execution.
Effectively work with the general manager and board of governors in directing all areas of golf course maintenance.
Training and direction of all golf course maintenance staff.
Working co-operatively to remain within budgetary guidelines.
Design and implement all agronomic programs, including basic fertility and supplemental nutrition.
Manage purchases of maintenance supplies and equipment.
Supervise repair, maintenance and operation of turf equipment.
Provide professional advice on golf course operations, proactively or at the request of the general manager and board of governors.
Provide reports and provide communication when necessary or by request.
Ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Perform other duties as required by the general manager. This is a full time position with a negotiable start date.

St Paul Golf Club
Resort Mechanic, Silver Tip, Canmore, Alta.
Silver Tip in Canmore, Alta., is in need of a resort mechanic responsible for the repair and maintenance of turf machinery and a fleet of golf carts.
Preference will be given to Turf Technician and other comparable mechanical certifications.
Responsibilities will also include the implementation of preventative maintenance programs, budgeting and being an integral part of the turf care team.
Electrical diagnosis and repair.
Hydraulic diagnosis and repair.
Reel grinding and set-up.
Welding and fabrication.
Knowledge of computers, Word and Excel.
Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment.
Occupational Health and Safety knowledge/compliance.

Assistant Superintendent, Mayfair Lakes, Richmond, B.C.
Mayfair Lakes in Richmond, B.C., is in need of an assistant superintendent.
Reporting to the superintendent/general ,anager, this position is responsible for the coordination of the golf course grounds conditioning and execution of all golf course related maintenance department activities.
The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail and be able to recognize the importance of contributing to the team environment and providing excellent playing conditions to members and club guests
Assume all duties of the superintendent if absent.
Assist/oversee the aesthetic appearance of the entire golf course property.
Maintain all grounds with the golf course property, including open spaces, wooded areas, unused acreage and areas outside the perimeter fence, as well as sod farm and nursery.
Assist in planning and supervising the layout of all construction on the course.
Assist in planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees and fairways.
Supervise and/or participate in the fertilizing, pesticide application, planting and maintenance on the golf course.
Supervise the maintenance and repair of all equipment used for maintaining the golf course.
Instruct all equipment operators in the operation and care of mowing and other equipment.
Maintain a log of all maintenance activities and provide timely reports as requested by the superintendent.
Supervise and participate in the operation and maintenance of all irrigation-related equipment and drainage systems.
Report any activities or problems that occur on the course to the superintendent and participate in enforcing any remedial actions necessary to rectify the situation.
Construction, maintenance and repair of cart paths, bridges and other structures common to golf courses.
Maintain tees, greens, fairways, rough and bunkers to a standard as determined by the superintendent.
Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time by the superintendent and general manager.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Solid understanding of the golf and country club environment and industry.
Education in pesticide/turf care management.
Thorough knowledge of construction and maintenance of golf greens, tees, fairways and various types of turf grasses used on the golf course.
Knowledge of proper use of all fertilizers, soil conditioners and pesticides
Knowledge of drain control methods, irrigation systems and water management, including wells, pumps and automatic controls.
Current certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator .
