Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver is seeking an assistant superintendent.
Liaison to the course superintendent.
Supervise and give instructions based on the direction of the course superintendent.
Assist in formulating the work schedules.
Ensure staff are properly trained and employees complete tasks at a high standard.
Assist in the application and planning of all fertilizer, chemical and other course amendments throughout the course of a season.
Maintain the course to a high standard under the direction of the course superintendent.
A degree or two-year diploma in turfgrass or a related field from a recognized college or university.
Sound understanding of agronomics and how to apply those concepts to the golf course.
Desire to succeed and exceed standards at a highly maintained golf course.
Willingness to learn and aid in implementing new programs.
Knowledge of irrigation software and troubleshooting.
Understanding of golf and how it relates to club operation and membership.
B.C. pesticide licence or the ability to obtain one.
Outstanding communication skills.
The successful candidate will be a strong leader, career driven and familiar with all components necessary to maintain a golf course at a championship level. This individual will be dedicated to achieving high standards in their work. This is a full-time position. Salary commensurate with experience and education.
