Telecommunications executive Pierre Blouin has been named to the board of directors for the Canadian Tour.
Blouin is chief executive officer for MTS Allstream Inc. and Manitoba Telecom Services Inc.
Before joining MTS in 2005, Blouin spent 20 years at BCE Inc., including his role as Group President, Consumer Markets for Bell Canada, where he was responsible for all of Bell’s consumer products including wireless, Internet, television, residential telephones and retail operations.
He was also CEO of BCE Emergis, an e-commerce provider, and president of Bell Mobility and he is a board member of the Conference Board of Canada, Consumer Council of Manitoba, MTS Allstream Inc. and Manitoba Telecom Services Inc. He is also a director of several non-profit organizations.
“Pierre brings tremendous strength to the board of the Canadian Tour, not only with his business acumen but with his passion for the game and his intimate involvement with the sport from the Bell Canadian Open while with BCE,” said Canadian Tour chairman Jim Kabrajee. “
Blouin said he sees potential moving forward with the tour.
“I realize the potential of the Canadian Tour and the significant role it plays in developing tomorrow’s golf superstars. I like the progress the tour has made to date and I look forward to helping position and grow the organization further so that it can realize its full potential,” said Blouin.
